The Young Caymanian Leaders Foundation (YCLF) is excited to announce Spencer West from the WE Organization as the keynote speaker for the 2018 Young Caymanian Leadership Award Gala (YCLA).
The YCLA theme for 2018 is “It Takes A Village,” inspired by our Caymanian heritage and the powerful message from last year’s speaker, Craig Kielburger, also from the WE organization, challenging and encouraging us all to come together and continue to work together to build stronger communities.
The life of visionary and activist Spencer West has been marked by both obstacles and triumph. After losing both legs from the pelvis down at the age of five, he entered a world that might have easily defeated him.
Instead, he tackled challenge after challenge, learning to navigate in a world set against those with disabilities. His many accomplishments and lessons learned along the way led him to discover the techniques business leaders, professionals, educators, and young people can use to redefine possible in their own lives and careers.
Spencer’s words and actions have encouraged millions to stand up, face challenges and embrace change. Whether working with corporate leaders or leading volunteer excursions for youth and adults, Spencer leaves his audience with pertinent lessons they can apply to redefine what their possible is.

This year’s gala event will be held on November 10th at the Kimpton Seafire. Tickets for the YCLA 2018 Gala Event are now available. The cost is $250 per person. Corporate tables of ten are also available for $2,500. The event is November 10, 2018, at the Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa. The theme is “It Takes a Village.” Doors open for the reception at 6 pm. At 6:45, doors are closed to accommodate the live telecast. Doors re-open after the broadcast for the remainder of the evening to celebrate.

The Young Caymanian Leaders Foundation (YCLF) created the The Young Caymanian Leadership Awards Programme (YCLA) to identify and establish role models for the youth of Cayman. The Programme provides a platform designed to inspire, motivate and empower young people to achieve their best. Each year, five finalists are honored at the Annual Awards Celebration, a televised, black tie event. One of the five finalists is then chosen as the recipient, who for a year commits a significant amount of time and energy to speak with and encouraging Cayman’s young people to make the right choices in life and achieve their full potential.
